Dexter in the Dark is better on re-read. Or perhaps I simply remembered the book as more supernatural than it really was; while there are some mythological elements to the book, they aren't as overwhelming as I thought they were. Darkly Dreaming Dexter is a story about a serial killer, who kills other serial killers. Rereading this, I've realized just how flat some of Dexter's world seems as he narrates to us, but this only emphasizes how little he feels to me.
